Worship Assistants
All Saints offers a number of opportunities for participation in our weekly
worship services. First and foremost, everyone is invited to attend worship
services and to share in our observation of Holy Communion. The Worship Committee also depends on numerous people to help out each week with
worship services. We encourage anyone who is interested to volunteer for any of
these activities.
Acolytes [instructions]
Acolytes are typically confirmation students. Acolytes light the appropriate candles
before service, sit with the pastors during the service, and extinguish the
candles at the end of the service. Acolytes also deliver the offering plates to
the ushers before the offering and return them to the altar following the
offering.
Altar Guild
[instructions]
The Altar Guild is responsible for setting up communion for church services,
cleaning the altar linens and robes, and changing the banners to coincide with
the church seasons.
Communion Assistants
Communion Assistants help the pastor(s) during communion at either service by giving
out the wine and saying, "The blood of Christ, shed for you."
Communion Bread Bakers
Communion Bread Bakers bake the bread for our weekly services of Holy Communion.
Greeters
Greeters arrive fifteen or twenty minutes prior to service, put their
name tag on, put the greeter tag on and welcome people as the come in
the main entry of All Saints.
Lectors
The lector reads the lessons for the day at one of the services and then
assists with communion.
Ushers [instructions]
Ushers arrive five to twenty minutes prior to the start of service to hand
out bulletins to children and adults. They also let the nursery leader when it is time for the Children's Sermon, collect the
offerings, and direct people to the communion rails.
NOTE: If you speak a foreign language and would like to share your talent
with the congregation, please let us know. We like to have people speak in
different languages for Pentecost Sunday.
