All Saints Lutheran Church

Support Committee

The Support Committee combines responsibility for both financial oversight and stewardship growth. The committee is charged with the responsibility to draft the congregational budget and oversee the church's expenditures and financial policies. The committee also helps facilitate an expression of faith in daily living by encouraging member's volunteering of time and talent. The committee works closely with the Financial Secretary, Treasurer, and bookkeeper. Generally meeting on the first Tuesday of each month the committee reviews the financial operations and plans any new or seasonal events. In general, the committee is the steward of the church's "stuff".

Church Budget

Each year the Support Committee coordinates the programming needs of the various working groups of the congregation, the recommendations of the personnel committee, the operational expectations of the physical plant operation, and the congregational expectations of benevolence support. The outcome of these endeavors is a draft budget presented to the Church Council in fall of the year.

Simply Giving

The committee works with the Financial Secretary to encourage the use of this electronic giving service which reduces the administrative burden on the giver, counters, and financial secretary. Contributors can have their offering electronically debited from their checking or saving accounts on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis. This not only eliminates the need to write checks, but also the volunteer work involved in counting and balancing these offerings.

Count Offerings

The committee coordinates the scheduling of the counters. Teams of two individuals are scheduled to count following the second service each week. The schedule repeats every four to six weeks.

Stewardship Campaign

In the fall of the year the committee coordinates the EMR (Every Member Respond) Stewardship Campaign. This is the campaign to solicit commitments of each member's time, talent and treasure.

Review Financial Operations

Each month the committee meets to review the financial operations of the church, and to make specific recommendations and/or take actions.

Annual Audit

The committee assembles and assists the Audit Committee in its preparation of the Annual Financial Audit. The committee also facilitates the implementation of any recommendations.

Recommend Stewardship Opportunities

From time to time the committee may be asked to review and recommend a course of action relative to the congregation's involvement in specific steward opportunities.
